Cartagena
Cartagena was a long, long time ago. Obviously, I’m still playing catch up.

There were three highlights of our time in the city—one was that Ben came and took lots of beautiful photos. A second was the beautiful, perfect, peaceful Rosario Islands. A third was the mud volcano.

We took a speed boat out to the Rosario Islands, where we sat around in our swimsuits, sipping glass bottled Cokes from straws and eating wonderful fried whole fish with lime juice, coconut rice and plantains.

It was such a quiet little paradise.

Back in Cartagena, we witnessed plenty of beautiful sunsets.

But it was often marred by los vendadores who would not stop harassing us into buying necklaces or massages.

Cartagena was beautiful and romantic and Colonial and also grimy and busy and stressful. I’m happy I went; I’m not rushing back.
